Do you offer delivery? We sure do! Local delivery (less than 20 miles from Ormond Beach, FL) is $20. Delivery to farther distances starts at $40/hr. To maintain the integrity of the dessert(s), we do not deliver to distances farther than 2 hours one-way (4 hours round-trip). You are always welcome to pick up your cake order in Ormond Beach, Florida, but delivery is required for cakes larger than 2 tiers. I have years of experience making large cakes, and they get very heavy, very quickly! With delivery, you can have the peace of mind of knowing the decorator and her toolbox are there setting up and taking care of any behind-the-scenes details before your guests arrive!
-

-
What kind of cakes do you make?If you can dream it, I can (probably) make it! Death By Dessert Studio offers custom luxury cakes and desserts for the most special of your events. I can create buttercream, ganache, or fondant cakes. I can also create realistic or fantastical sculpted cakes. To see a portfolio of my work, check out my Gallery page!
-
Do you make vegan, gluten-free, sugar-free, or dairy-free cakes?Unfortunately, I do not currently offer vegan or gluten/sugar/dairy-free cakes or desserts, though I hope to do so in the future. If you are in need of any of the above, I am happy to recommend some lovely fellow bakers who may be able to help!
-
Do you require a deposit? That depends! No deposit is required on orders less than $500, but the invoice must be paid in full at least 5 days before your event. Any orders not paid in full by the due date will be considered cancelled and will not be fulfilled. For orders over $500, a 50% non-refundable, non-transferrable deposit is due upon booking to secure your date. A signed contract will also be required, with all shop policies outlined. Any changes made after the invoice has been sent may be subject to additional charges. Any orders not paid in full at least 5 days before the event date will be considered cancelled and will not be fulfilled.
-
How far in advance should I place my order? The earlier you place an order, the better! Orders are typically placed 2-3 weeks in advance. Orders placed less than 5 days in advance will be considered a "Rush Order" and will incur an additional 20% fee IF: 1) it is an off-menu, specialty cake flavor/filling/icing, 2) it is a fondant or ganache cake, 3) it is a sculpted cake, 4) there are handmade fondant/chocolate decorations, or 5) it requires a cake topper, decorations, or specialty flowers to be ordered. Death By Dessert Studio has cake orders every week with a strict schedule of days spent baking, creating decorations, icing, etc. The rush fee reflects the extra effort and costs that go into creating and sourcing elaborate decorations with only a few days' notice. There will be NO rush fee for cakes that are 100% buttercream with none of the elements stated above. I cannot accommodate any orders with less than 24 hours notice.
-
Why do you need so much time to make a cake? Shouldn't you bake the cake the day of my order?Despite what tv competitions or a TikTok video might portray, baking and decorating a quality custom cake takes quite a bit of time! If cakes were baked the same day as the event, they would be wobbly, melting messes only fit for an episode of "Nailed It!" That being said, my cakes are always moist and my buttercream recipe is consistently lauded for being delicious without the overwhelming sweetness of other American buttercreams. My attention to detail when decorating is unmatched, and my passion unparalleled. Whether I'm putting together a dozen cupcakes or a 5-tier wedding cake, each creation embodies the luxury of a world where pastry meets art.
-
Can you make an exact copy of a cake design for me?I welcome inspiration pictures, but out of respect to other artists, I will not replicate another person's designs. I am happy to work with you to reflect the spirit of your inspiration in a way that's uniquely yours!
